Located along the edge of of Sydney’s beautiful Pittwater, this project involved a major renovation and rebuild of an existing 3 storey solid masonry building to create a generous four-storey family home. The waterfront site had limited access and stability challenges, which PBC Pty Ltd was able to navigate given its extensive experience with these issues.

As with many PBC projects, high quality craftsmanship was essential to respect the high-end timber finishes. A high level of detail was achieved with elements such as recycled hardwood posts and beams, decking and screens, along with hand crafted sandstone battered walls providing a beautiful layering to the original monolithic structure. This attention to detail extended to a bespoke hardwood and stainless steel BBQ built for the main deck. The construction of Class 1 Formwork stairs and bluestone tread was highly technical given the site’s restricted access and geotechnical instability. The cantilevered Vergola also provided a challenge in its construction, but was executed effectively and provides a stunning area to enjoy the views out over the water. The result is a meticulously detailed, functional and light-filled home, planned over four levels that step down to a boat house and the water’s edge.
